Experts’ Advice 🫡
“Above all, do not lose your desire to walk: Every day I walk myself into a state of well-being and walk away from every illness; I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it.” — Søren Kierkegaard

What the heck is going on with these streaming prices?
Short & Sweet: Streaming being cheaper than cable might be coming to an end, as major streamers continue to (or will soon) raise their prices.
Why It Matters: Because many ditched cable to save on monthly bills, and now it might be time to readjust (especially with inflation issues and student loans resuming).
👀 Major Streamers and their Price Increases:
Disney+ - from $7.99 to $10.99, and going up to $13.99 in October.
Paramount+ - up $1 for basic and $2 for ad-free.
Peacock - up $1 for basic and $2 for premium.
Max - raised price by $1 earlier this year, with an Ultimade ad-free plan up to $20 per month.
Netflix - eliminated their basic plan and introduced new fee for password sharing.
Starz - up $1 for first price increase since 2016.
Apple TV+ - raised price $2 last October.
Getting Worse?
Analysis from Bernstein Research (linked above) expects even more price increases, with “Netflix, Hulu, and Peacock [having] ‘significant untapped pricing power.’”

Networking Hack 🤝
Commit to the time ⏲️
Building a network in-person and online requires a lot of patience.
It also requires a lot of your time.
From networking events to meeting up in person, your time may be spent conversing with others.
When you set the time away to network, commit to the time you set and go for it.
As the infamous Chatbot would say:
“Networking mirrors the process of building muscle – its potency increases through continuous dedication.”

Major Moves 🗞️
⌚️ ROLEX:
A major acquisition shakes up the luxury watch business.

Midjourney
For those that don’t know, Bucherer is a luxury watch and jewelry retailer that does about $2 billion in annual sales. And now they belong to Rolex. “Chairman Jorg G. Bucherer has agreed to sell Bucherer AG to Rolex in a move that has stunned the world of high-end watch retailing.”
This acquisition allows Rolex to get more involved in consumer sales instead of relying on external distributors.
🤖 ideogram:
Midjourney better be careful!

Midjourney
Former Google Brain researchers are bringing us a new AI image generator, which doesn’t seem like such a Major Move since there are plenty abound.
Except: “Ideogram has a major selling point, [having] finally solved a problem plaguing most other popular AI image generators to date: reliable text generation within the image, such as lettering on signs and for company logos.” Sometimes the smallest detail can make the biggest difference.
💰️ HOSTESS:
How about a Twinkie Takeover?

Midjourney
Hostess has been around for 104 years, but the last twenty have been most interesting. They declared bankruptcy in 2004 and 2012 and then were acquired for $410 million.
Now, they’re up for sale again: “Hostess Brands is exploring a sale, after it received takeover interest from rival snack-makers like General Mills, PepsiCo, and Mondelez.” BIG money in Ding Dongs and Ho Hos…wait, that came out wrong 😂
📊 doordash:
They looked at data, identified a problem, and solved it 👏

Midjourney
Many people still like to order food via phone, yet up to 50% of those calls are never answered. That means a lot of restaurants are missing out on potential revenue.
Well, not anymore: “DoorDash is launching AI-powered voice ordering technology that will allow restaurants to increase their sales by answering all of the calls they receive.” The restaurant business is TOUGH, but this will make it easier.
