Plus: Conversation Starters 🗣 Communication Composure 😎 and a Cable Deal 🤝

Hello and good morning!

For only the second time since its inception, Hustle Hub is taking the week off.

You and Rick Ross may disagree, but hustling too hard, every day, non-stop sounds like a great way to burn out, and we’re only just getting started.

Enjoy the break, and don’t worry: we’ve still got plenty of productive content for you.

Here are the highlights of today’s edition:

🧠 An Expert Advice Section Where the Neuroscientist Might Not Be the Smartest Person in the Room

📈 Major Updates on Hostess and Disney

💲Why You Should Talk to a Financial Advisor

 Much. More.

Experts’ Advice 🫡
  • Who is Ray Dalio? He is a billionaire investor and hedge fund manager who founded the world’s largest hedge fund, Bridgewater, in 1975.

  • His book Principles: Life and Work appeared on the NYT Bestsellers list in 2017.

  • Who is Andrew Huberman? We’ve featured him here before, but a refresher: he’s a neuroscientist, professor, and podcaster. You can check out his podcast Huberman Lab here.

Finance 101 🤑

What the heck can a financial advisor do for me?

Short & Sweet: They can help you make important decisions about what to do with your money.

Why It Matters: Because learning from a professional will strengthen your knowledge and give you more confidence regarding your finances.

💡Here are 4 things to consider on why you should talk to a financial advisor:

  • They have expertise and can provide you with accurate and up-to-date information.

  • They can tailor their advice to your specific financial situation, goals, and risk tolerance.

  • They are part of a network of experts and could connect you with tax advisors, insurance agents, and anyone else you may need on your financial journey.

  • They can educate you on financial concepts and strategies.

Cool Communicator 😎

Maintain Composure:

All too often, we find ourselves in frustrating conversations. In those moments, we think it’ll feel good to raise our voices, opt for sarcasm, or even insult those we’re speaking to.

Resist the temptation.

Unleashing any sort of negative attitude is a great way to alienate employees and colleagues, burn bridges, and lose respect.

Unless you’re a politician looking to go viral by zinging a peer across the aisle, nothing good can come from it.

Good communicators stay calm and collected and let their words - not their emotions - shine.

Major Moves 🗞️

 😋 SMUCKERS:

Hostess has a new host company...

Midjourney

Are we about to get some remixed, jelly-filled Twinkies? You never know. “J.M. Smucker on Monday agreed to buy Hostess Brands for $5.6 billion in a deal that unites two major American snackmakers.”

After reports of the deal went public, Hostess stock was way up while Smuckers was down 7%.

 💲 scala biodesign:

New funding to make better drugs.

Scala Biodesign

As a subject, biotech is pretty fascinating; as a business, it’s also pretty lucrative. “With $5.5 million in new funding, Scala Biodesign is focused on…making existing or promising drugs more practical by tweaking them one molecule at a time.”

The linked article gives interesting explanations and examples re: what Scala does with protein development - we highly recommend!

 🤝 DISNEY:

Their fight with Charter is over…just in time for football!

Midjourney

Spectrum cable customers were thisclose to missing the first Monday Night Football game of the NFL season. That is no longer an issue: “The deal [between Charter and Disney] will see Disney’s ad-supported streaming apps included for some of Charter’s Spectrum pay-TV customers.

Disney will receive an increase on the subscriber fees it receives from Charter.” Investors seem to like the deal - both stocks were trading higher after news of the agreement was announced.

🦄 imbue:

They are now valued at over $1 billion!

Midjourney

Imbue, a generative AI company specializing in AI optimized for reasoning abilities, raised $200 million in this week’s funding round.

They are on the come-up yet they don’t seem to care much about competing with OpenAI and other companies. “What we’re really excited about is like, how can we make [AI] accessible to everyone so that everyone can imbue intelligence and be able to use that intelligence.”

Food For Thought 💭
2 Do This Week
  • Consider an Extra Loan Payment - making additional loan payments (if and when you can afford it) has a huge impact on accruing interest. Whether it’s for student loans, mortgage, or something else, consider sneaking in that extra payment.

  • Plan a Fall Bucket List - a new season is right around the corner, so do your best to plan fun activities for yourself and friends/family.
