Plus: Happy Valentine's Day!!

Good morning and welcome back!

And Happy Valentine’s Day! The reason we like this holiday is because it’s a great reminder to show those you love how much you care for and appreciate them.

Should it take the arrival of February 14th to do that? Of course not. But life can be busy and hard sometimes, so it’s nice to have a special day that focuses on what matters most: love.

That said, we hope you feel the love every single Tuesday, because at OTF we care about and appreciate you 24/7.

In case we don’t say it enough, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for your continued support!

What are 4 Ways to Turn $10,000 into $100,000 in 10 years?

Short and Sweet: While there are many ways to invest, let these core four be your starting point for turning $10k into $100k, courtesy of Business Insider financial experts.

(No, we’re not talking about stocks.)

Why It Matters: Because reaching the $100,000 milestone can significantly impact your financial health and move you closer towards financial independence.

Plus, if you really commit to one of these 4 ways and reach $100,000 - imagine what you can then turn $100,000 into…

💡 Here are 4 things you can do to turn $10,000 into $100,000 within 10 years.

  • Invest In Real Estate: Pool your $10,000 with other investors to buy into larger real estate investments. This can provide access to higher-value projects with the potential for significant returns. Get in with others instead of owning it yourself.

  • Start a Business: Use your skills (writing, designing, programming, etc.) to start a freelancing business. Expand by outsourcing work to other freelancers, turning it into an agency model.

  • Get a New Degree: Pay for a certification or degree that will allow you to get a job that significantly boosts your income. For example, you can use it to pay for an Artificial Intelligence Engineering degree/certification. According to ZipRecruiter, that average salary is ~$106k.

  • Invest in Startups: FYI: companies like Republic, Wefunder, and StartEngine make it possible for everyday people to invest in startups. Yep, that’s right, you can do startup investing. Startup investing involves investing in really young, private companies in the hopes that their new product or service will make it big and sell for a large some of money.

To further help you out, here are 5 action steps to help you climb to that $100,000 along the way.

  1. Research: Deep dive into your investment choice—real estate, business, education, or startups. Understand market trends and potential returns.

  2. Plan Finances: Keep your $10,000 readily available and get prepared to invest when the moment is right.

  3. Set Goals: Define clear, measurable objectives for your investment, such as income targets for real estate or revenue milestones for a business.

  4. Network: Connect with mentors, advisors, and industry professionals who can provide guidance and open doors to new opportunities.

  5. Start Small: Begin with a modest investment to test the waters, learn, and gradually increase your stake as you gain experience and confidence.

Cool Communicator 🤝  Working With AI

✍️ CRAFTING THE PERFECT PROMPT

In the year 2024, being a good communicator goes beyond person-to-person interaction.

We are communicating more than ever with non-human entities, whether it be search engines, customer service bots, or - the focus of today’s Crossover Content - large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT.

TL;DR Takeaways:

  1. The best prompts elicit responses that are “not only relevant and coherent but also insightful and innovative.”

  2. Knowing your audience - a Cool Communicator foundational skill - is crucial here: “these models have been trained to detect patterns, infer context, and generate text that mirrors human-like understanding…the prompts we craft are the keys that unlock the treasure troves of information within them.” Understanding what LLMs are and are not capable of will help with prompt-crafting.

  3. When Prompting: Be clear and precise. Make sure your language is “devoid of ambiguity.”

  4. When Prompting: “Employing techniques akin to those used in persuasive writing - such as appealing to authority, invoking scarcity, or establishing a connection through likeness - can guide the model to generate responses that resonate on a deeper level.” For more on the underlined concepts, reconnect with OTF favorite Robert Cialdini’s principles here.

  5. When Prompting: Treat your submissions not as commands but as contributions to a dialogue:

    - Learn what you can from each response, even if it doesn’t fit exactly what you were looking for.

    - If a response signals clear misunderstanding, adjust your approach.

    - Understand that AI is not infallible. Remain patient and look at what YOU can do better to achieve your desired result.

O.T.F O.F.T = ONE FINAL THOUGHT

Mastering the prompting of LLMs can benefit you when communicating with humans, too. A “prompt” is simply a piece of language that aims to bring about action.

So whether you’re presenting an employee with a new task, motivating a client to buy, developing a survey, etc. you are prompting. Much of what was discussed above will work effectively on humans, too.

👍 LIMITLESS POSSIBILITIES: The conversation around AI seems to focus predominantly on chatbots, image-generation, and make-work-easier tools.

But from the outside looking in, it seems like with AI, anything is possible: we can use it to plan and reimagine cities, decipher ancient scrolls, and even find our perfect puppy partner!

👎 EVIL: This might be a bit strong, but we couldn’t think of a better word. We’ve got North Korea using it for “nefarious purposes;” companies using it to monitor employee communications for “thought crimes;” and criminals using it for massive heists.

When considering its criminal potential, two questions come to mind:
