Finance 101 šŸ¤‘

How the heck can I get into couponing (and should I)?

Short and Sweet: With everything more expensive due to inflation, finding little ways to cut costs or trim bills is more important than ever.

Couponing is a viable way to do this.

Why It Matters: Because the big expenses (that donā€™t come with coupons) arenā€™t coming back down any time soon.

If you need extra money to pay back loans, or buy a house, or even just go on a nice vacation, you need to find that money somewhere.

Kiersti Torok has built a 3M+ following by sharing couponing tips and best deals.

Hereā€™s a 2-step way to start, from the article linked above:

  1. Focus on a single store to get your feet wet.

  2. Download that storeā€™s app to digitally apply coupons.

Cool Communicator šŸ˜Ž

You Have the Powerā€¦to alter brain chemistry through good storytelling.

We donā€™t normally outsource our ā€œCool Communicatorā€ advice (we have a professor of writing and public speaking on staff), but this article from Psychology Today was too good not to share.

Best nuggets from the article + our takes:

  • Storytelling is incredibly effective at molding opinions. Yes! Way more effective than argumentation. People would much rather be moved by a story than debated with.

  • Good stories have a three-act structure. Setup (background), Conflict, Resolution. In other words, you need a clear beginning, middle, and end.

Major Moves šŸ—žļø

 šŸ¬ JCPenney:

Your motherā€™s favorite store is resurrecting itself.

Midjourney

JCPenney is like a vampire: super old (121 years old, to be exact) but refuses to die: the company recently announced it ā€œplans to spend more than $1 billion by the end of 2025 in a bid to reviveā€ itself.

The money will be used to remodel brick-and-mortar stores, upgrade its site and app, and maximize efficiency of its supply chain.

 šŸ˜„ teale:

A new mental health companion for the workplace.

Midjourney

Mental health is more important than ever, especially when it comes to work-related stress. Here comes Teale to help, with a ā€œfunding round of $11 million [secured] earlier this summer.ā€

They give a mental health platform to employees and help HR managers as well.

 šŸ“ŗļø CHARTER COMMUNICATIONS:

Evolve or die!

Charter.com

Charter Communications wants to save the TV bundle (as opposed to consumers paying for individual network apps) and is not afraid to piss people off in the process.

CEO Chris Winfrey ā€œput media content companies on notice that negotiations would look different after Disney-owned networks went dark.ā€ Heā€™s pushing what consumers already know: the cable model is dead, and media companies better accept it!

šŸ”‹ fisker:

The lowest-priced EV on the market!

Fisker.com

Electric vehicles are great in concept, but theyā€™ve always been too expensive for mass appeal. Until now? Fisker ā€œreleased details on its entry-level, all-electric Pear small crossover priced at $29,900.ā€

Still not so cheap, but the more competition in the EV market, the better.
