#103 STAY INFORMED & STAY AWARE OF...ALL THINGS AI

Featuring: Humans

Presented by

Welcoming you back with our 3rd edition of the month, which as a reminder, is our AI edition! That’s right, every month we incorporate an edition that solely focuses on AI.

It’s becoming such a critical component in our lives both personally and professionally. I use it 90% of the week and my fiancée recently used it to curate meals this week with the ingredients we got at the grocery store. IMO, it’s nothing to run from, it’s actually something to run towards.

The ability to use a creative tool that can help you save time and mental exhaustion is something I will sign up for everyday of the week. We’re already doom scrolling, which eats up a lot of time, so we can thank AI for getting us time back in our pockets with how effective it’s becoming.

AI is here and here to stay. So we might as well learn how to use it to the best of our ability…otherwise, if you’re not in the know, you’re out of it.

Time to jump in.

It’s All About The Energy…

IMO, Working with AI is amazing and it can do wonders for us as operators, but did you know about the energy it runs on to function?

I found an article from the World Economic Forum that I believe is important to share with you.

We’re diving in OTF style…with short & sweet bullet points.

What To Know:

  • AI Runs on computers (servers), and they’re much stronger than the one’s we use at home.

  • Servers need electricity and they are kept in massive buildings called data centers.

  • The electricity used by AI comes from different sources like coal, natural gas, solar, wind power etc.

  • There is an increasing energy demand, primarily for building and running the data centers used to train and operate AI models.

  • Taken directly from the article, “AI requires significant computing power, and generative AI systems might already use around 33 times more energy to complete a task than task-specific software would.”

  • Another quote from the article, “When you deploy AI models, you have to have them always on. ChatGPT is never off.”

  • Companies are increasing their efforts to save on this energy consumption by using more energy-efficient processes to reduce the impact on the planet.

  • There are 200 million users of ChatGPT every week — YES, 200M! (*cough, cough, that’s a ton of energy usage to satisfy)

O.F.T - One Final Thought

As the tool becomes more of a function in our lives as time goes on, it’s important to know what is going on BTS. Kind of like how you want to know where your favorite Netflix or HBO series was filmed — it’s important you know, so you have context on where it takes place.

NETWORKING HACK 🤝 EXPERT ADVICE

The Liking Principle

Last month, I used our Expert Advice section to talk about Robert Cialdini’s Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion, specifically the Reciprocity technique. (If you want to read about that, go here and scroll down.)

Today, I want to talk about a different Cialdini technique - LIKING - and how you can use AI to help you with this principle while networking online.

Since the book is so damn good, I decided to incorporate the principles from this book and tie them back into this section. The reason behind that is, I want to share how you can use these principles with AI to make networking easier and more effective for you.

The Liking principle is simple: people are more likely to say yes to someone they like. And guess what? People like those who share similar interests, give genuine compliments, or make them feel good.

When networking online, this principle is powerful. Here’s how you can use it to your advantage:

  • Find Common Ground: Take a moment to explore the person’s profile, posts, or interests. Call out a shared passion, mutual connection, or similar career path to establish rapport.

  • Use AI to Personalize Your Approach: ChatGPT can help you craft a message that emphasizes similarities or compliments in a genuine way. Here’s a prompt to try:

“Help me write a personalized DM to someone in the tech industry. Mention that I saw we both share an interest in AI, compliment their recent post on AI trends, and ask them about their perspective on the future of the field.” (You want the person on the other side to see that you care and you’re not just reaching out to reach out.)

  • Keep It Real: While AI can give you a starting point, the magic comes from your personal touch (that’s the secret sauce). Review and tweak the message to align with your voice and genuine intent. People like authenticity, and it shows when you’ve taken the time to connect meaningfully.

O.T.F
O.F.T: One Final Thought

When you apply the Liking principle, whether through thoughtful DMs, comments, or emails, it’s about creating authentic relationships, not just transactions. AI can help you craft engaging messages, but it’s your sincerity and relatability that will make you likable and memorable.
