#114 Cheating on ChatGPT
Plus: 3 Prompts I Live and Die By

Welcoming you back to our Productivity Edition!
I’m currently sipping coffee at my desk, having just got back from walking three miles with my fiancée and our dog. By now, I usually have a plan for this intro, but today?
😐
But instead of faking it with ChatGPT (all human-generated content over here, baby!), I’m simply gonna talk about it.
Today’s Workin With AI is about my three favorite LLM prompts. It’s really useful content in my opinion, but I’d also understand if you’re skeptical. Seems like every other day there’s an article or (worse) for-sale ebook titled The 100 Prompts You Need to Succeed. We’ve probably even linked to a few pieces like that in the past.
The reason I’m sharing my favorites isn’t because I think I prompt better than anyone, or because I think my exact prompts will suit your specific needs. They’re simply there for inspiration. They’re there both as examples of the possibilities available to you and proof that these tools really can make your life better.
I say that because I live it. I’m by no means an AI expert - that’s what today’s sponsor is for! - but I use it every day, and no lie, my life is better for it. Tasks are easier; research is more efficient; and even my cooking is more delicious!
Honestly, that’s what these editions are all about. Giving you a taste of the value these tools can bring. Hope you enjoy!
Now, let’s get After It.

WORKING WITH AI 🤖
3 Prompts I Live & Die By
I’ve chosen these three because no matter what project I’m working on or outcome I’m pursuing, they always seem to bring value. Here they are:
Prompt 1: Before you brain dump your entire business idea into ChatGPT, make like The Rock and tell the bot:

For example - if I’m going to repurpose content from this newsletter in a LinkedIn Post, here’s my prompt:
"I need you to act as the world's best social media consultant for my LinkedIn post..."
Then I would continue with my specific needs: ”I need to repurpose 2 pieces of content into 2 LinkedIn posts….”
Why it matters: Direction is key when it comes to working with AI. You need to take control of every detail, and the way to best do that is by telling the bot how to respond / act. This immediately sets the tone, ensuring that you only get relevant responses and direction.

Prompt 2: Sometimes, I want to be challenged; I want to be tested; I want to make sure my ideas have actual substance.
So I make the bot do it!
"Thank you for your response. However, before we continue down this path, I need you to challenge me with 10 questions regarding problems with this idea. I need to understand the hurdles I'll face and the risks I'm taking on. Please outline a Q&A format so I can answer accordingly."
Why it matters: It would be silly to think your idea is flawless just because you’re working on it with AI. You need to understand the potential difficulties in the market, or the risks you may have to take to pull off your hustle, or (insert your specific idea here).
This prompt is intended to produce pushback. It’s most helpful when you don’t have anyone to bounce your idea off of, or if the idea is so new that you feel it’s not ready for human ears. Let the bot be your first critic so that by the time you talk to friends and family, you’re more prepared.

Prompt 3: When the bot is your editor, you want to be specific AF. So be as detailed as possible regarding things like audience, purpose, tone, and anything else you can think of to maximize the quality of your content.
"My desired outcome is _____. My target audience is _____. I need you to respond in _____ tone of voice."
Why it matters: I often combine this with Prompt 1 so that both parties know who is acting in what capacity, what the desired outcome is, who you’re both speaking to, and how you want it to sound. This, in my experience, is the most productive way to enhance the quality of your content.
O.T.F.
O.F.T - One Final Thought

Again: I’m not saying these are the BEST ways to prompt; I’m sharing them simply because they’ve worked well for me in the past.
For you, a tweak or two might be necessary. That’s why I keep encouraging our readers to use these tools as often as possible: the more you use it, the more you understand how to prompt according to your needs.
TL;DR
You should always know the bot’s role.
You should let the bot challenge your ideas.
Specificity is king.

ALWAYS INFORMED🦾
Wait…ChatGPT’s NOT the Only Bot?!?
We’d understand if this is news to you, since we most often talk about ChatGPT. In our defense, it is the most popular, with over 400 million active weekly users. But there are other bots out there, each with its own distinct expertise:
Google Gemini: Known for its ability to engage in “natural” conversations, its integration with Search and other Google products are its biggest strengths compared to ChatGPT.
Microsoft Copilot: Basically the Microsoft version of Gemini, its best quality is how it enhances productivity within the Microsoft ecosystem.
Claude: Its writing style is more “human-like” than competitors, and it really excels at remembering and understanding large amounts of text in a single convo.
Perplexity AI: Considered among the best “searchers” of the LLMs, delivering quick and accurate answers with cited sources.
Jasper AI: Really powerful when it comes to content creation, particularly for marketing and SEO-rich content.
When ChatGPT’s not delivering, I tag in Gemini for the reason mentioned above - its tie-in with Google Search makes research super quick and easy. But you might make a different decision depending on your needs.
That’s the beauty of being Always Informed - you don’t have to guess the right choice. You know it!
