We hope you’ll check them out, and as always, if you have anything you want to recommend to us, drop us a line at [email protected].

Who is Codie Sanchez?

  • Her 440K+ following on X is bigger than your grandma’s, and her newsletter, Contrarian Thinking, aims to help you take control of your financial destiny.

  • She’s been buying and investing in businesses since 2012 and currently runs a holding company of what she calls “boring businesses” that crush it, like laundromats and lawn care (genius if you ask us - these businesses are timeless).

Who is Steve Adcock?

Making Cents 💰️

✈️ Why the Heck Should I Get an Airline Credit Card?

Short and Sweet: They’re clutch for those who travel regularly. Figure out which airline has the most flights out of your nearest airport, and find that airline’s rewards card.

Why It Matters: Because if you are a frequent flyer, it saves you money and helps with your year-round travels, especially during the holidays.

💡 Here are 4 perks commonly-associated with Airline CCs:

  1. Free Checked Bags: Some offer one or more free checked bags, which is awesome when it costs > $30 to check one.

  2. Priority Boarding: You get the chance to feel a little like royalty by boarding the plane earlier, which gives you first dibs on overhead bin space.

  3. Airport Lounge Access: Some premium cards give you access to those ultra-cool airport lounges so you can wait for your flight in comfort and style.

  4. Sign-Up BONUSES: Many offer generous sign-up bonuses that boost your miles right off the bat (we’re talking tens of thousands). Keep in mind - you’ll most likely have to meet certain spending requirements in the first few months to get the full bonus.

The Search Bar 📊

As of 10/30 at 11am ET.

Midjourney

  • MOST POPULAR HALLOWEEN SEARCH (past 24h): DAY OF THE DEAD - This Mexican holiday isn’t exactly like Halloween (though they have adopted some traditions), but it’s close enough that it had a lot of people curious.

  • MOST SEARCHED BUSINESS (past 24h): REALTY INCOME - People are most interested in the stock, which is down BIG over the past year but might just be the sort of high-yield investment people are looking for. (Note: we are not advising investing in this stock.)

  • MOST DOWNLOADED APP (past week): REVERSE 1999 - It’s a game that involves time travel in some way; it just dropped on the 26th and apparently is doing numbers.

Digital Networking Hack 🤝

Optimizing your LinkedIn Profile:

One of the easiest way to stand out online is ensuring your LinkedIn profile is airtight.

Here are 3 🔑 reasons why you should optimize your profile to help positively impact your professional and personal brand.

  • 😄 First impressions: Creating a strong first impression when people visit your profile keeps them interested in your page right away instead of scrolling and moving on.

  • 🤝 Business Opportunities: For online creators or entrepreneurs, optimizing your profile can attract potential clients or customers. Think of posting about your product or service. People won’t know about your product unless you tell them about it.

  • 🌍️ Global Reach: LinkedIn provides access to a global network meaning you can connect with professionals from all around the world. This is crazy when you really think about it.

Conversation Starters 🗣️

Major Moves 🗞️

 ⌚️ APPLE:

Might the Apple Watch become banned in the US?

Midjourney

It comes as no shock that sometimes big companies steal ideas from small companies; what is surprising is when the big companies don’t get away with it. “The ITC (International Trade Commission) has upheld a judge’s ruling from January that Apple infringed Masimo’s patents when it comes to technology for reading blood oxygen levels.”

This tech has been in almost every Apple Watch since 2020 but that could end soon; pending review from the White House, this litigation could result in a ban on Apple Watch imports in the US.

 🤖 poe:

The app store of chatbots?

Midjourney

There’s still plenty of AI to accomplish, but they’ve already solved one problem (said half-jokingly): loneliness. Now, when you need someone to talk to, a bot is there for you!

And Poe is there for the bot creators: “[the startup] has unveiled a new monetization model to enable third-party creators to earn revenue from building and offering their own chatbots through the Poe app.”

Welcome to the future!

 👮‍♀️ WALMART:

Paving the way for other megabrand’s antitheft measures.

Midjourney

We know Walmart as a retail behemoth, but role model? For CVS and Home Depot, they are: “Walmart took the extreme step of closing one Atlanta store with plans to reopen it with an on-site police station.”

CVS has employed a similar approach in New York (with police dogs!), and Home Depot worked with law enforcement to take down an organized crime ring in Florida.

What. Is. Happening?

🤔 it’s good:

Well, John Legend, we’ll be the judge of that.

Apple App Store | It’s Good

Grammy-winning artist John Legend is venturing into the app space, and judging by the name of his app, he’s doing so confidently. “It’s Good will give personalized restaurant and travel suggestions” in an app that’s described as Yelp-Meets-Instagram.
