ELON TRIES TO BUY OPENAI
Elon Musk (perhaps you’ve heard of him) recently tried to buy the non-profit parent company of OpenAI for just under $98 BILLION, a bid that was unanimously rejected by OpenAI’s board. Apparently, Musk’s goal is to prevent OpenAI’s move toward a for-profit model, which CEO Sam Altman claims is necessary to secure the funding they need to keep up in the industry. (Altman says that despite the potential shift, they are still committed to ensuring AI benefits all humanity.)
Here’s how this saga may impact OpenAI and the artificial intelligence industry as a whole, courtesy of OpenAI’s premier product:

WORKING WITH AI 🤖
Create Projects in ChatGPT (It’s Worth It!)
Double espresso productivity, please!
If you’re like me, you may have multiple projects you’re working on. Here’s a list of mine at the moment:
Writing and scaling this newsletter
Posting on LinkedIn
Creating videos on Instagram and TikTok
Launching an Interview Series for the newsletter (Super excited for our guests!)
Utilizing the Projects feature within ChatGPT has helped me conserve the requisite time and effort to juggle it all. (Projects is a feature of ChatGPT Plus, which costs $20 per month. I highly recommend - have two fewer drinks at the bar, make coffee at home for a week, or go with one less streaming service. It’s worth it.)
About Projects
First, it’s a way for you to get structured. It separates the things you’re working on into specific categories. See the below image.

Here’s the first step - simply name your project:

After that, click into the project, and begin working…

My FAVORITE part is the ‘Instructions’ tab found at the bottom right (see above). It sets the parameters for the bot’s responses.
For example: my goals with LinkedIn are to post 4x a week and make it appealing for anyone in their 20s and 30s. Here’s what I included in my instructions:
“I need you to act as my Editor in Chief because I want to write on LinkedIn 4x per week. The content will be centered around one of the following things: Money, Personal Branding, and Self-Development for people in their 20s and 30s.
The tone of voice in your responses needs to sound cool yet professional. Answers should not be long-winded and should ensure a high-schooler can understand the topic.
Make sure in your responses you give me a strong hook. Be sure to amplify the problem someone would experience with the message I am getting across so I can give them a solution. Be sure to end your suggestion with a valuable tip so my audience can benefit."
Click ‘Save’ once you’re satisfied with your instructions.
Pro tip: Don’t know what to instruct for a project? Explain what type of content or work you’re trying to accomplish, then have ChatGPT ask you questions that you can answer. Essentially, ChatGPT can help you develop the instructions by interviewing you about your project.

O.F.T - One Final Thought

As your project evolves, go back into the Instructions and edit them to fit new needs. This way, the bot can keep up with your pace and development, and your work will continuously improve.
NETWORKING HACK 🤝 EXPERT ADVICE
The Social Proof Principle
Last month, I used our Expert Advice section to talk about Robert Cialdini’s Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion, specifically the Liking principle. (If you want to read about that, go here and scroll.)
Today, I want to talk about a different Cialdini concept - SOCIAL PROOF - and how you can use AI to apply this principle when communicating about a product or service you offer.
The Social Proof principle is simple: people are more likely to trust or buy something when they see others doing it, too. We naturally assume that it must be good if others like it.
Here’s how you can use this to your advantage:
Share Testimonials and Case Studies - When people see that others have had a positive experience, it lowers their skepticism and increases their confidence in your offer. Testimonials act as social proof by giving potential customers a glimpse of what success looks like.
Highlight Customer Numbers and Community Size: Whether it’s “500+ clients served” or “Join 2,000 others who’ve transformed their productivity,” numbers provide undeniable proof that others trust your offer.
Feature Social Engagement and Reviews: Positive comments, shares, and ratings act as real-time social proof. Screenshot glowing reviews or show the number of likes and shares a post has received to communicate trustworthiness.
When it comes to communicating effectively about your product or service, social proof is one of the most persuasive tools you have. Of course, your product/service needs to be effective enough to generate positive reviews and testimonials. But once you’ve done a little bit of that, AI can help you craft the messaging and develop an aesthetically pleasing presentation of your social proof. Share statistics with the bot, upload reviews and social engagement, and even ask it to design a page for your website!

Remember: people don’t just want to hear from you – they want to hear from the people you’ve helped.
Before You Go
We hope you enjoyed this month’s AI edition! We understand that AI may not be everyone’s favorite reading topic, but it will be an essential part of life sooner rather than later. If you take even one piece of information from this edition every month, we feel it’s worth it!
Next week, we’ll be back to human-centered content: Major Moves, The Search Bar, and much, much more! In the meantime, peep our poll on your way out.
