Networking Hack 🤜 🤛

Never the Naked Thank You:

(Brought to you by Leil Lowndes, who’s written eight books including the immortal How To Talk To Anyone)

Whenever you thank someone, “Always make it thank you for something. People use the bare exposed thank you so often we don’t even hear it anymore.”

Examples on how to dress up your thank you include:

  • Thank you for coming.

  • Thank you for being so understanding.

  • Thank you for being such a good customer.

  • When you leave the airplane and see the pilot: thank you for getting us here safely.

Conversation Starters 😉
  • SELF-INTEREST: Talk about how focusing on a single task can make you both happier and more productive.

  • HUMAN INTEREST: Talk about Bill Ackman, who despite being worth nearly $4 billion is still a “continuous learning machine.”

  • ARTIFICIAL INTEREST: Talk about this OpenAI executive’s concern that AI can become “extremely addictive.”

Major Moves 🗞️

 🦷 TOREGEM BIOPHARMA:

Don’t mind me, just growing some new teeth.

Midjourney

Is there anything pharmaceutical scientists can’t do? And if the answer is no, why focus on this 🤣 “A Japanese company working on a tooth-growing drug is just now slated to enter clinical trials, making it the world’s first drug of its type to make it this far.”

What might the side effects for this drug be? Some patients may experience nausea, vomiting, and the growth of additional fingers…

 🤖 vise intelligence:

Your financial advisor’s advisor.

Midjourney

Who would you rather handle your money: a human, or a human-bot dream team? Yeah, us too. Meet Vise Intelligence, “a conversational AI model designed to support human financial advisors by preparing reports, answering questions, and surfacing up-to-the-minute information about investment portfolios to go over with clients.”

Brilliant!

 🪀 TOYS R US:

They’re backkk…in a delightfully weird way.

Midjourney

After what seems to be a solid partnership with Macy’s, Toys R Us is continuing their comeback in places you might not expect. “The iconic toy retailer said that it plans to sell toys in airports and on board cruise ships as part of its ‘Air, Land and Sea’ expansion.”

If you have kids, this makes so much sense.

🪪 shareid:

ID verification without the invasion of privacy.

Midjourney

Every app these days seems to require ID verification, but what happens to your data after you submit. With ShareID, the answer is: nothing. “ShareID claims it doesn’t store any personal data…it keeps it in memory on its servers and then wipes the data.”

If you read the article, you’ll see this is much different from other companies, some of which store your data for up to three years.
